NC Primary Election Results

May 18, 2022

North Carolina held its 2022 primary election on May 17th with nearly 1.4 million ballots cast across the state. Of North Carolina’s 7,236,469 registered voters, 20% participated in the primary election this year – up from 14% in the 2018 midterm primary election. Close to 2% voted absentee by mail, 39% voted during the one-stop early voting period, and 59% voted in-person on Election Day.

Legislative Committee Discusses Telehealth Policies

The Joint Legislative Committee on Access to Healthcare and Medicaid Expansion convened this week to discuss telehealth policies in North Carolina. Although this week’s meeting was the final one before the start of the legislative short session on May 18th, the committee will likely continue work later this summer or early fall to develop a Medicaid expansion plan and to propose other healthcare reforms for the legislature to consider.

Two legislative committees convened on Tuesday to discuss several major healthcare issues in the state, with the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services meeting in the morning to receive an update on the state’s pandemic response and behavioral health issues, and the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Access to Care and Medicaid Expansion meeting in the afternoon to discuss expansion models in other states.
