Congressional Staffers, State Innovation and Defense Partners Visit Duke Quantum Center

Duke Government Relations and Duke State Relations hosted state and federal partners on August 30th for “Quantum Day” at the Duke Quantum Center (DQC) in the historic Chesterfield Building in Downtown Durham. Attendees included congressional staff members from the offices of Sen. Thom Tillis, Sen. Ted Budd, Rep. Valerie Foushee and Rep. Deborah Ross. Representatives from the NC Office of Science, Technology and Innovation, the NC Defense Technology Transfer Office, and the National Security Innovation Network were also in attendance.

2022 Election Results

Results from Tuesday’s midterm elections were highly anticipated, with control of the NC General Assembly, NC Supreme Court, US House and US Senate up for grabs. Issues driving voters to the polls included abortion access, the economy, and crime, among others. While North Carolina saw a “red wave” as predicted, it wasn’t as widespread as Republicans hoped for in some races.

NC Primary Election Results

May 18, 2022

North Carolina held its 2022 primary election on May 17th with nearly 1.4 million ballots cast across the state. Of North Carolina’s 7,236,469 registered voters, 20% participated in the primary election this year – up from 14% in the 2018 midterm primary election. Close to 2% voted absentee by mail, 39% voted during the one-stop early voting period, and 59% voted in-person on Election Day.
